Quinta do Lago was designed by William Mitchell from the USA and opened in 1974, the Quinta do Lago South course was used eight times for the “Portuguese Open Championship” in 1976, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1990 and 2001. It has also hosted many large professional and amateur championships.
Quinta do Lago Golf Course South Course is considered to be one of the best golf courses on the Algarve. The Quinta do Lago used to offer four nine hole loops with the flexibility to combine any two to allow four 18 hole combinations. It has recently been transformed into two different courses and loops B and C are the most famous. |

Quinta do Lago Golf Course South Course's hole 15 is a memorable par 3, which requires a 200 metre drive over the lake onto a green surrounded by pine trees. Water plays only a small part on this course with the main hazard being the looming pine tree's.
Beautiful environmental surroundings, exclusive luxury homes and pine tree's line this highly maintained course. It is part of the Natural Park of Ria Formosa that hosts a great variety of birds. The four loops of Quinta do Lago played a major part in creating attention to the Algarve as a golfing destination.
