Santa Ponsa - I Golf

Santa Ponsa Golf Resort is home to two 18-hole and one 9-hole golf courses and designed by Folco Nardi and Pepe Gancedo.  This golf course is the longest course on Mallorca and has wide fairways and many water hazards and bunkers.  It has played host to the Balearic Island Golf Open six times. The golf course is a 6,543 m, par 72 course and covers an area of 73 hectares The 10th hole is one of the longest in Europe. It is a long, wide course with many indigenous trees and vegetation, water hazards and bunkers

Santa Ponsa Golf Club is located on the Santa Ponsa Urbanisation, about 20 minutes drive from the international airport and 15 minutes from Palma de Mallorca. It is surrounded by more than six kilometers of coastline, there are two 18-hole and one 9-hole golf course (Golf Santa Ponsa I, II and III).

"Santa Ponsa I is one of Mallorca's busiest courses, because many national and international tournaments take place here including the Professional Spanish Championship Match between Spain and Belgium, the Spanish international amateurs championship, Club championship of Europeampeonato, International Challenge H.R.H. the Count of Barcelona (from 1977 'til 1992), International trophy H.R.H. Don Juan de Borbon (from 1994 'til today), International trophy H.R.H. Princess Birgitta of Sweden (from 1991 'til today), The Mentor Foundation Trophy 1998."

The course was selected for the P.G.A. European Tour’s Balaeric Open six times. The winners were: 1988: Seve Ballesteros. 1989: Ove Sellberg. 1991: Gavin Levenson. 1992: Seve Ballesteros. 1993: Jim Payne (Golf II). 1995: Greg J. Turner. 1998: Miguel Angel Jimenez.
